Construction Update – December 2017

Special Designated Area

The Quad Business Towers has been granted an SDA (Special Designated Area) status, a designation that essentially allows both EU and non-EU nationals the same acquisition rights as Maltese citizens, without AIP (Acquisition of Immovable Property) permit requirements.

When transacting property within a Special Designated Area, there are no limits on the amount of properties a buyer can purchase and importantly, purchased property may be leased out without restrictions. Special Designated Areas are intended as top-end developments, inclusive of a comprehensive facility and amenity offering, and as a result are an immensely popular investment choice with both international and local investors.

With the majority of Special Designated Areas in Malta geared towards residential property development, The Quad is one of only a handful of SDAs to focus exclusively on commercial real estate.
